Note: The gasoline saved and CO2 reductions are in comparison to a regular gasoline engine equipped GMC Yukon using NRCan fuel consumption values.

When operated on Iogen's cellulose ethanol, this vehicle emits fewer net CO2 emissions per year than any hybrid available today! This full-size Ethanol Flexible Fuel GMC Yukon is powered by the 285-hp 5.3-liter Vortec V-8 engine and is capable of running on a combination of conventional gasoline and ethanol (E85). E85 is a renewable alternative fuel composed of 85% ethanol and 15% gasoline. Ethanol is a by-product of renewable resources, such as feedstock and plant life. Conventional grain derived ethanol is made from food crops such as corn and sugar cane, while cellulose ethanol is made from agriculture residues, including cereal straws and corn stalks/leaves. According to Natural Resources Canada's Energuide, GM's E85 capable full-size trucks and SUVs operating on conventional ethanol emit fewer net CO2 emissions per year than certain hybrid vehicles.
